We reveal the masterpiece of ourselves, by allowing our “observer self” to occupy the driver’s seat and by giving permission to all that happens to affect us.
Imagine! Your personality with all its flaws actually is the perfect tool for you to grow and fulfil your soul’s purpose without even figuring out what that purpose is.
It is a very sophisticated tool and like any other such complex tool it needs a manual, it needs user’s directions.
- Our personality is an energy field.
- The different structures in the field are our character styles.
- We take the drivers seat through our “observer self”!
- We grow through giving a great deal of permission.
Our personality is an energy field.
We are a spiritual being, a soul incarnating with an energy consciousness. Our soul partners with a physical body with an energy consciousness of its own and with energy consciousness from our ancestors.
This energy consciousness is an energy field that surrounds and penetrates the physical body. It represents the different vibrations of ideas, thoughts, feelings, emotions, beliefs, images, concepts. In fact this is the whole of our personality.
The different structures in the field are our character styles.
Whatever happens to us and around us will affect our thoughts, feelings, emotions, beliefs, images, concepts and thus our energy field. At different age frames of our childhood we create structures in our energy field.
These become character styles, which each have a specific set of beliefs, emotions, visions, concepts, feelings, thoughts.
This is an example. A rigid character style is a part of us that strives to be perfect. It originates between the age of 2 and 6 depending on what happens to us and around us in our family of origin. The energy constellation reveals itself as a very tight form that is perfectly fitting around and into our physical body, there are no irregularities, no weak areas. It is our belief that we have to be perfect to be accepted. Our vision is a world with a huge level of perfection, order, clarity.
In our personality we have a mix of different character styles and how we are in the world depends on which of our character styles is in charge.
We take the drivers seat through our “observer Self”!
This is a story about my inner family of character styles. I am awake during the night and an ongoing stream of thoughts moves through me. I feel overwhelmed and there seems no way out. It is chaos, several of my character styles are active on my stage. Suddenly when I can obtain the drivers seat with my “observer self”, I notice how thoughts, ideas, concepts, feelings visions and beliefs of different parts of me are all present and intermingled. Only with my “observer self” in de drivers seat can I create a safe space for all of them, hold them with love and acceptance and allow them to reveal their unique gifts.
Our “observer self” is a part of our personality, which is not attached to any character style, it is neutral. An easy way to access our “observer self” is by bringing our attention to our heart and so to speak open our heart.
We grow through giving a great deal of permission.
Once we have an “observer self” in the driver’s seat we are ready for another user’s direction. This user’s direction is about giving permission for whatever happens to us “and” around us to teach us, trigger us, touch us, affect us, move us.
This interplay with what is actually happening in the world through relationships, events, exchanges is the key feature for revealing this masterpiece which we are!
CONCLUSION
Our character styles can create huge rollercoasters in our lives, bringing happiness and pain, conflict and resolution, love and hate, fear and courage. Although they often seem to lead a life of their own and no way to control them, these user’s directions offer us another option.
Our “observer self” sources the space with loving kindness, patience and clarity for our character styles to reveal their magic.
We know we are affecting the world through our energy field or personality. We understand we express ourselves through our projects, relationships and groups.
In my book Becoming What is Changing: Exposition you can learn more about this magical tool of our personality and our fascinating character styles.

Her book, Becoming What is Changing: Exposition, is the first part of a trilogy aimed at managers, team leaders and responsible employees who wish to bring this kind of transformation into the workplace, so they can create an environment where people are happy, satisfied and continuously growing.
